Trade Forex from WhatsApp: MetaTrader 5 Meets Your AI Agent

You trade forex. Maybe gold, maybe indices, maybe a bit of everything your broker offers. You have MetaTrader 5 on your phone, your laptop, maybe a VPS running an EA somewhere. And throughout the day, you’re switching between your MT5 app and whatever chat you’re actually living in — WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord.

What if the terminal came to your chat?

OCLauncher now runs a full MetaTrader 5 terminal inside your AI agent’s container. You talk to it in plain language. It executes. Here’s what a day looks like.

What This Actually Is

Your OCLauncher instance runs a headless MetaTrader 5 terminal connected to your broker. Your AI agent has direct access to it. No browser extensions, no screenshot parsing, no workarounds — it’s a real MT5 connection using your broker credentials.

What it can do:

  • Execute market orders (buy/sell) with stop loss and take profit
  • Check your account balance, equity, margin, and free margin
  • List and monitor open positions with live P&L
  • Get real-time quotes for any symbol your broker offers
  • Pull trade history for any time period
  • Close individual positions or all positions

What it cannot do:

  • Chart analysis or technical indicators (it’s an execution layer, not a charting tool)
  • Run Expert Advisors (use your dedicated MT5 platform for that)
  • Provide financial advice or trade recommendations (it executes your instructions, period)

Morning — Check Your Account from Bed

It’s 7 AM. Markets opened an hour ago. Instead of opening the MT5 app and waiting for it to sync, you send a message from bed:

“What’s my account balance and open P&L?”

The agent connects to your terminal and responds:

Balance: $10,000.00 | Equity: $10,150.00 | Open P&L: +$150.00 | Free Margin: $9,650.00

Good start. You follow up:

“Show me my open positions.”

TicketSymbolTypeVolumeOpenCurrentP&L
#384921EURUSDBuy0.101.09501.0965+$15.00
#384935XAUUSDBuy0.052,620.002,647.00+$135.00

Two positions, both green. You know exactly where you stand before your feet hit the floor.

Midday — Quick Quote and a Trade

Lunchtime. You’ve been watching EUR/USD and want to add to your position. From your WhatsApp chat:

“What’s the current price on EURUSD?”

EURUSD — Bid: 1.0972 | Ask: 1.0974 | Spread: 2 pips

Looks right. You decide to go in:

“Buy 0.1 lots EURUSD with stop loss at 1.0880 and take profit at 1.1020.”

The agent doesn’t just fire the order. It shows you what it’s about to do:

Ready to execute: Buy 0.10 lots EURUSD at ~1.0974 Stop Loss: 1.0880 (−94 pips) Take Profit: 1.1020 (+46 pips)

Confirm? (yes/no)

Trading involves risk. You may lose more than your initial investment.

You reply “yes.” Done:

Order filled — Ticket #384952 | Buy 0.10 EURUSD at 1.0974

Trade confirmation is on by default. The agent always asks before executing unless you explicitly disable it in your dashboard safety settings.

Afternoon — Close a Winner

Gold has been climbing all day. You check in:

“How’s my gold position doing?”

#384935 XAUUSD Buy 0.05 lots — Open: 2,620.00 | Current: 2,658.00 | P&L: +$190.00

Good enough. Lock it in:

“Close it.”

Close position #384935 — XAUUSD Buy 0.05 lots at 2,658.00 for +$190.00?

Confirm? (yes/no)

“Yes.”

Position closed — Deal #502187 | Sold 0.05 XAUUSD at 2,658.20 | Realized P&L: +$191.00

Three messages. Position closed. Back to whatever you were doing.

Evening — Review the Day

End of the trading day. Time for a summary:

“Show me today’s trade history.”

TimeSymbolTypeVolumePriceP&L
14:32XAUUSDSell (close)0.052,658.20+$191.00

One closed trade today. You want the bigger picture:

“What’s my total P&L for this week?”

This week (Mon–Fri): 4 closed trades | Net P&L: +$347.50 | Win rate: 75%

No spreadsheets. No exporting CSV files from MT5. Just ask.

Scheduled Monitoring

You don’t want to remember to check every morning. Set it once:

“Every weekday at 7 AM, send me my account balance and any open positions.”

OCLauncher’s cron system handles the rest. Every weekday morning, your account summary lands in your chat automatically.

You can also set alerts:

“Alert me if my equity drops below $9,000.”

The agent monitors your account and messages you if the threshold is hit. No third-party alert services needed.

Safety First

Trading from chat is convenient, but convenience without guardrails is dangerous. The MT5 plugin ships with safety controls you can configure from your OCLauncher dashboard:

  • Trade confirmation — On by default. The agent shows you the exact order details and waits for “yes” before executing. You can disable this, but we recommend against it on live accounts.
  • Maximum lot size — Set a ceiling. Orders above this size always require confirmation regardless of the toggle above.
  • Risk warnings — The agent includes risk disclaimers when placing trades.

Our recommendation: start with a demo account. Every major broker offers one. Connect it, test the integration, get comfortable with the workflow. Switch to live when you’re ready.

What You Need

  1. An OCLauncher account with a running instance
  2. A MetaTrader 5 broker account — demo or live, any broker that supports MT5
  3. A chat channel connected — WhatsApp, Telegram, or the built-in web chat

That’s it. No additional software to install. The MT5 terminal runs inside your OCLauncher container.

What It Supports

The integration works with anything your MT5 broker offers:

  • Forex — EUR/USD, GBP/JPY, USD/CHF, and every other pair
  • Commodities — Gold (XAU/USD), Silver (XAG/USD), Oil
  • Indices — US30, NAS100, SPX500, DAX40
  • Crypto — BTC/USD, ETH/USD (if your broker supports it)

If it’s in your MT5 Market Watch, your agent can quote it and trade it.

Risk Disclaimer

Trading foreign exchange, commodities, indices, and other financial instruments on margin carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. You could sustain a loss of some or all of your invested capital. You should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose.

OCLauncher provides the technology to connect your AI agent to your MetaTrader 5 broker account. We do not provide financial advice, trading signals, or investment recommendations. Your AI agent executes the instructions you give it — it does not make independent trading decisions or evaluate whether a trade is appropriate for your financial situation.

Past performance is not indicative of future results. Start with a demo account. Understand the risks before trading with real money.

Supported Order Types

The MT5 plugin supports the full range of order types available through MetaTrader 5. You issue them in plain language and the agent translates to the correct MT5 request.

Market orders execute immediately at the current price. These are the simplest — “buy 0.1 lots EURUSD” opens a position at the best available ask price. Market orders are what most of the examples above demonstrate.

Limit orders let you set a price and wait. A buy limit sits below the current price; a sell limit sits above it. For example: “Place a buy limit for 0.1 lots EURUSD at 1.0920.” The order stays pending on your broker’s server until price reaches your level or you cancel it.

Stop orders work in the opposite direction. A buy stop sits above the current price (for breakout entries), and a sell stop sits below it. These are useful for trading breakouts without watching the chart: “Set a buy stop for 0.05 lots GBPUSD at 1.2750.”

Stop-loss and take-profit levels can be attached to any order at the time of placement or added to existing positions. You can also modify them after the fact: “Move my stop loss on ticket #384952 to 1.0940.” The agent updates the order on the MT5 server and confirms the change.

Partial closes are supported as well. If you have a 0.10 lot position and want to take half off the table, say “Close 0.05 lots of my EURUSD position.” The agent handles the partial close and reports the realized P&L on the closed portion.

Risk Management

Position sizing and risk control are where an AI agent adds real value beyond simple order execution. Instead of calculating lot sizes manually, you can give the agent your risk parameters and let it do the math.

Percentage-based position sizing — Tell the agent your risk tolerance per trade: “Buy EURUSD with a 50-pip stop loss, risking 1% of my account.” The agent calculates the correct lot size based on your current balance, the pip value for the symbol, and your specified stop distance. No more mental math or lot size calculators.

Equity alerts — As shown in the scheduling section, you can set threshold alerts on your equity. But you can layer these: “Alert me if any single position loses more than $200” or “Notify me if my margin level drops below 150%.” The agent checks these conditions on its monitoring interval and messages you when they trigger.

Daily loss limits — You can instruct the agent to stop executing new trades if your daily realized loss exceeds a threshold: “Don’t open any new trades if I’ve lost more than $500 today.” This acts as a behavioral guardrail that works even when discipline is hard to maintain.

Exposure monitoring — Ask the agent for a breakdown of your exposure by currency, asset class, or direction at any time: “What’s my total exposure to USD right now?” This helps you avoid unintentional concentration risk across multiple positions.

Troubleshooting

A few common issues you may encounter when using the MT5 plugin, and how to resolve them.

Connection timeout — If the agent reports that it cannot connect to your MT5 terminal, the most likely cause is a broker server maintenance window or an incorrect server name in your configuration. Verify that your broker’s MT5 server address is entered exactly as shown in your broker’s account credentials. Also check that your OCLauncher instance is running — a stopped instance cannot maintain the MT5 connection.

Invalid symbol — MT5 symbol names vary between brokers. One broker might list euro-dollar as EURUSD, another as EURUSD. or EURUSDm. If the agent says a symbol is not found, ask it to “list all available forex symbols” and use the exact name your broker provides. The agent queries your terminal’s symbol list directly, so it will show you what is actually available.

Insufficient margin — This error means your free margin is too low to open the requested position size. Either reduce the lot size, close an existing position to free up margin, or deposit additional funds with your broker. The agent will tell you your current free margin when this error occurs, so you can decide how to proceed.

Order rejection — Brokers can reject orders for several reasons: the market is closed for that symbol, the stop loss or take profit is too close to the current price (inside the broker’s minimum stop distance), or the volume is below the symbol’s minimum lot size. The agent relays the broker’s rejection reason. For minimum stop distance issues, move your SL/TP further from the current price. For volume issues, check the symbol’s specifications by asking the agent: “What are the trading specs for XAUUSD?”
